WELCOME TO THE WOOL CARNIVAL WEBSITE
Wool Awakes started as a fund raiser to build the D’Urberville Hall. Many events were held with Wool Awakes as a spectacular in June or August.
A one day event became two days and was supported by many of the village and surrounding district .Colonel Weld was heavily involved and laid the corner stone in 1972.
Adage Cutler and the Wurzels along with Jim Etherington performed. It’s a Knockout was the highlight of most events with teams going against each other. After a few years with little fund raising the hall badly needed a face lift? In 2004 part of the committee held a garden party. Carrying on in 2005, 2006, 2007 Wake Up Wool came in to being with a strong committee and all proceeds were spent on the hall.
We look forward to 2012; WOOL CARNIVAL is already being planned for June 23rd. Forward planning is going well to make 2012 a bigger and better event.
